ADVOCACY

We have found that by being proactive with owners directly, we are able to promote an agenda that ultimately supports the issues common to trade subcontractors.

The association strives to inform building owners, financial representatives, government officials and others of the fact that more than 80 percent of all industrial and commercial construction is performed by subcontractors. It also emphasizes needed reforms on such issues as prompt payment, retainage, surety bonding, lien rights, bidding practices and entitlement to payment.

Your ASA San Diego Economic Development and Government Relations Committee is your advocate with local public agencies, and the greater San Diego contracting community, concerning ourselves with issues such as prompt payment, retention practices, subcontract clauses, and project delivery methods, specifically as they relate to subcontractor bid listing laws.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Any member can participate in any or all of our meetings with various public agencies. Watch for meeting dates posted on the calendar, or contact us if you are interested in meeting with a specific public owner.  If there is an issue you feel ASA San Diego can support you on with your work on a public project, just let us know so we can make the appropriate contact and initiate the communication with that agency.
